My multilayered pieces have their beginnings in discarded books that reflect my interests in reading and the beauty of nature. I reconfigure book pages and play off their images and meanings using drawing, painting, image transfer, collage and sanding. As I work the surfaces using these additive and subtractive processes, I discover new connections among the various elements and patterns--both real and imagined.

With these improvisations of shape, color, scale and meaning I hope to evoke a sense of curiosity and mystery about the workings of the natural world and our relationships to it.
